Uninterrupted Use Policy

By "uninterrupted", we mean that we do not limit the total number of hours per day, week or month that you can be on the Internet. However, this is a shared service. If you're not sitting in front of the computer or downloading a file, you should not be logged onto the Internet.  People who won't share don't get to play.

People who need dedicated service (not shared) should consider our dedicated access options, which include everything from modem dial-in to ADSL Broadband to high-speed Frame-Relay.

Our regular dial-up lines are shared access. On the average, you share one line with six other people. The amount you pay per month wouldn't come close to covering our costs for the phone line you use, let alone our equipment, if the line were not shared.

With an uninterrupted use dial-up account you are entitled to:

  • dial in as many times per month as you wish at no additional charge.
  • remain on the line for as long as you are sitting in front of the computer, actively using the Internet. In order to help people who forget to disconnect, our computer will disconnect you if you transfer no information for 30 minutes. And if you are on continuously for nine hours, whether transferring information or not, it will disconnect you.  The latter is to disconnect people who are, with or without their knowledge, running keep-alives .

You are NOT entitled to:

  • "share" the account with a friend or colleague. Personal, single-user accounts may be used either from one, single machine (in which case your family may also use the account) or from multiple machines (in which case only you may use the account). Business accounts are to be used only at the business location (in which case anyone at the business may use the account) or by one person, as above.
  • remain on the dial-up line while you are not actively using the Internet. We do not allow "keep-alive" programs. If you have your computer checking your email more often than every 30 minutes (unless it then disconnects), that constitutes a keep-alive. If you need 24-hour a day access, see our ADSL Broadband rates.

We reserve the right to terminate the accounts of people who abuse these policies.
